CHER conference 2012 - practical info
AIRPORT TRANSFERS
Participants who have indicated that they wish to have transport to and from the airport arranged for them and have sent flight details will be picked up from the airport and taken to their hotel.
Participants will be met at the airport by the taxi driver with a banner inscribed with “CHER” and should inform the driver about the hotel they are staying in.
Details about departure to the airport will be announced on the info board (next to the info desk at the Faculty of Philosophy) on Monday afternoon, 10 September.
Participants going to the Symposium in Ljubljana will informed on the details of their departure at the info desk. The departure is planned for Wednesday at 15:00, from the Students Square.
ACCOMMODATION
All hotels (those booked through organisers) are walking distance from the conference venues, taking maximum 20 minute walk. They are also indicated on the map.
VENUES
CHER 2012 will be organised at the University of Belgrade Rectorate (Studentski trg 1) and at the Faculty of Philosophy (Cika Ljubina 18-20), which is just next to the Rectorate building (left from the Rectorate main entrance). Both are located in the very centre of Belgrade. They are indicated as venues L1 and L2 on the map which you can download here.
The registration is on Monday from 8:00 until 9:00 at the 2nd (top) floor of the University of Belgrade Rectorate building, in front of the Ceremonial Hall. The information desk will then be moved to the Faculty of Philosophy (3rd floor) and will stay there for the whole duration of the conference. Participants arriving later can register there.
The opening and closing of the conference, keynote speeches and CHER Business Meeting will take place in the Ceremonial Hall of the University of Belgrade Rectorate, which is at the 2nd (top) floor. This is also where the first coffee & tea breaks on Monday and Tuesday will be organised.
The parallel sessions and CHER Anniversary Panel will take place at the Faculty of Philosophy, on the 2nd (room 208) and 3rd floor (rooms 301, 308, 310). The exact rooms for each session will be indicated on the posters near the info desk, located in the hall at the 3rd floor.
The participants will be escorted by volunteers from one building to the other.
CONFERENCE MATERIAL
Upon registration you will be provided with conference material which will, among other things, include the session schedule, practical info, list of participants and the venue map, so there is no need for you to print them beforehand, unless you really need to.
COMPUTER AND INTERNET ACCESS
There will be Wi-Fi internet connection available at the 1st floor at the Faculty of Philosophy. There will also be a computer room with printers on the 1st floor at the Faculty of Philosophy.
The network name and password will be provided to you at the registration.
MEALS
On Monday and Tuesday, lunch will be served at the Restaurant “Aeroklub” (Uzun Mirkova 4, R1 on the map). At the end of parallel sessions 1 and 3, a volunteer in each session room will guide you to the restaurant. The third day, cold sandwiches will be served at the Faculty of Philosophy.
WELCOME RECEPTION AND CONFERENCE DINNER
Welcome reception will take place on Monday, at 20:00 at the Ethnographic museum (Studentski trg 13, L3 on the map). Meeting point of participants will be in front of the Faculty of Philosophy at 19:45 from where the volunteers will direct you to the Ethnographic museum. You can as well go there directly by yourselves if it is more convenient for you.
Conference dinner on Tuesday will be at 19:30 and organised at the Restaurant “Caruso” (Terazije 23/VIII, R2 on the map). There will be volunteers in front of the restaurant building to direct you to the restaurant (which is located on the 8th floor).
Conference dinner is included in the conference fee. In case you would like to bring someone along, the extra ticket to the dinner is EUR 30 (3600 RSD). Unfortunately, we cannot take credit cards for this and it has to be paid in cash at the info desk in RSD (Dinars).
CITY TOURS (OPTIONAL)
We have arranged two city tours for conference participants, one will be on Monday after the 2nd session (by bus) and the other will be after lunch on Wednesday (by boat).
Belgrade Sightseeing with an open top bus (Monday, 10 September)
Route: Assembly of the City of Belgrade, National Assembly, KnezaMiloša, Bulevar of Peace, Josip Broz Tito Memorial Centre, Temple of St. Sava, Terazije, Republic Square, Students’ Square, Belgrade Fortress, City Gate and New Belgrade.
Visitors will be provided with headphones in five different languages (Serbian, English, French, German and Russian).

Belgrade sightseeing by boat (Wednesday, 12 September)
Route: Dorcol – Danube’s left coast – Zemun –Big War Island –Hotel Yugoslavia –Confluence of Sava and Danube – Kalemegdan Fortress and monument the Belgrade Winner – Saborna Church – Belgrade Port – Belgrade bridges – Belgrade Fair – Ada Ciganlija – Medjice –Dorcol.

Important note: when registering on Monday morning, please let us know if you would like to take one or both of the tours and make the necessary payment (in cash in RSD).
ORGANISING TEAM AND EMERGENCY CONTACTS
CHER volunteers and organizing team with red ID cards will be available for your queries during the conference.
Any possible changes of the programme will be announced on the notice board on the third floor of the Faculty of Philosophy.
OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION
The official currency in Serbia is dinar (RSD). Money may be exchanged in all banks and post offices, as well as in authorised exchange offices (available at the airport as well). The current exchange rate is EUR 1= 118 RSD (varies daily).
Cash may be taken from ATMs installed in all major malls, bank branch offices and in public places.
Tap water in Belgrade is safe to drink.
